Physical Therapist - Acute Care

Position Overview


As a Physical Therapist in Acute Care, you will play a vital role in the patient's recovery process. You will be responsible for assessing a patient's functional abilities and developing a personalized, age-appropriate treatment plan. Your work will be guided by the Standards of Physical Therapy Practice, ensuring that all interventions are designed to help patients regain mobility, reduce pain, and improve their overall quality of life.


Key Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' functional abilities to determine their needs. Develop and implement individualized, age-appropriate treatment plans.
• Treatment and Intervention: Provide hands-on therapy and prescribe therapeutic exercises to help patients achieve their goals. Adhere to all Standards of Physical Therapy Practice to ensure the highest quality of care.
• Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress, interventions, and care plans.
• Patient and Family Education: Instruct patients and their families on exercises, safety precautions, and next steps in their care to facilitate a smooth transition out of acute care.

Qualifications

• Education:
  
  
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree is highly preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications:
  
  
  • A current Licensed Physical Therapist credential is required.
  • A BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association is required.
