Registered Nurse - NICU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care to neonatal patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), ensuring the delivery of safe, competent, and developmentally appropriate care to critically ill newborns and their families.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and administer comprehensive nursing care to neonates in the NICU, including medication management and monitoring physiological changes.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary staff within scope of practice, ensuring adherence to NICU protocols and standards.
• Evaluate patient statuses continuously, implementing care plans and adjusting interventions as necessary.
• Educate and support family members, addressing psychosocial needs and providing post-discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, vital signs, and clinical procedures.
• Cross-train and float to Pediatric units as needed to provide consistent patient coverage.

Qualifications:

• Hold an Associate Degree in Nursing (A.S.) or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Possess a current RN license in the practicing state.
• Some NICU experience required; neonatal transport and delivery attendance experience preferred.
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
• Possess or be willing to obtain RNC or CCRN certification; facility-specific licenses required.
