Prepares meals in an efficient and appealing manner according to the provided menus, and recipes while directing other Food Service staff as needed to ensure a quality food product is provided for the resident/customer. This may be under the direction of Chefs and Food Service Supervisors. Acts as a relief Food Service Supervisor as needed. Delegates and supervises work on shift from meal preparation, set up, clean up and closing.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares breakfast, lunch, dinner, alternative menus, special event and catering foods, cafeteria foods and dietary restricted foods following standardized recipes and production sheets or as directed.
• Prepares high quality meals that taste and smell good and have a pleasing appearance and presentation. Tests and tastes food to ensure quality flavor, consistency, texture and temperature.
• Prepares appropriate size portions and quantity of food adhering to standardized production menus when appropriate.
• Prepares alternate food items and /or additional quantities when requested by resident or customer in a timely fashion.
• Maintains proper sanitation in the kitchen and food service area keeping areas clean and organized. Utilize and maintain equipment according to safety and standard operation instructions.
• Follows and ensures that all Food Service personnel follow infection control procedures, including proper hand washing, food preparation, food storage, food disposal and wearing protective clothing and equipment.
• Follows and ensures that all Food Service personnel follow all safety procedures and protocol as dictated by EverTrue policy, federal and state regulations and standard food handling practice. Corrects and/or reports all hazardous conditions, effective equipment and accidents or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Supervises staff including delegating authority, directing, counseling, coaching and evaluating staff to provide exceptional product and service when delegated as the supervisor.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Two years or equivalent experience of institutional cooking, prep cooking or kitchen work preferred. Food Service Supervisory experience preferred.

• Certification/Licensure: Certification in Food Service Sanitation required within the first 6 months of employment.

• Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations. Ability to make simple calculations.

The employee must have the ability to lift and carry a 50lb load from a height of 50 inches and carry a distance of 5ft and place at a height of 36 inches; walk continuously for mile; push a wheelchair with a load of 200lbs; reach to a height of 76 inches using both upper extremities; lift/carry 50lbs and push/pull 30lbs.

The work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled location with moderate noise. Minimal exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxins, or caustic chemicals. Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens.

EverTrue Pay & Benefits:

Pay grade: 11

Pay range: $20.50/hour to $32.75/hour
