Job Duties
Job Summary
The Residential Assistant plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to residents in a personal care home or group home setting. This position involves assisting individuals with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to upholding resident rights and fostering an environment that promotes independence and dignity for all residents, including those with disabilities or memory care needs.
MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS
Duties
Provide personal care assistance to residents, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
Prepare nutritious meals and assist residents with dining as needed.
Assist residents with mobility and transportation within the facility.
Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
Support residents in engaging in social activities and recreational programs.
Monitor resident behavior and report any changes in health or well-being to the appropriate staff.
Uphold resident rights and ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Collaborate with team members to implement individualized care plans for each resident.
Skills
Strong interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for caring for others.
Experience in meal preparation and knowledge of dietary needs is beneficial.
Ability to assist individuals with varying levels of ability, including those with memory care challenges.
Familiarity with systems that support the care of individuals with disabilities.
Knowledge of resident rights and advocacy practices within a residential setting.
Excellent cleaning skills to maintain hygiene standards in the living environment.
Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with residents and their families.
Minimum Education Required
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required
Minimum Experience Required
Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
