Job Description & Requirements Gastroenterology-Medical Director StartDate: ASAP Pay Rate: $455000.00 - $550000.00 The University at Buffalo's Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences is seeking a GI Medical Director to lead and grow its division at Erie County Medical Center (ECMC). You will play a key leadership role while maintaining a dynamic clinical practice, working alongside a collaborative physician group and engaged trainees in a mission-driven environment serving diverse patient populations. Leadership Commitment:

• Lead and expand GI services on campus in partnership with division leadership
• Approximately 20% protected time for leadership responsibilities
• Participate in strategic planning, academic initiatives, and administrative leadership
• Collaborate with university and hospital leadership on program growth

Clinical Practice:

• Enjoy a structured clinical schedule with a mix of procedures, outpatient care, and subspecialty clinics.
• Two procedure days per week (10-12 cases per day)
• Two clinic days with a mix of new and follow-up patients
• One administrative day weekly
• Opportunities to practice in hepatology, general GI, and IBD clinics

Team & Support:

• You will lead a well-supported, collaborative team focused on quality care and patient access.
• Oversees a team of 4-6 physicians
• Supported by APPs and dedicated RN care managers
• Established infrastructure that has improved access and reduced no-show rates significantly
• Work with GI fellows (3 per year; 9 total)
• Participate in teaching, lectures, and mentorship
• Access to university-affiliated research initiatives and collaboration

Call & Schedule:

• Shared call structure with fellows taking first call
• Approximately 1:4 call rotation (targeting 1:6)
• Weekend call included with flexibility
