Security Officer - WPB

Your Purpose As a critical member of the Brightline Safety & Security team, you will provide a safe and enjoyable work environment for yourself and others by monitoring and patrolling our modern stations, engaging in professional security practices while enforcing strict procedures to control access. You will interact with guests, use sophisticated technology to screen traveling guests and their belongings, and remain alert to all possible scenarios while being hospitable and respectful. Your Role Enforce all policies and procedures set forth by the management team. Conduct safety and security patrols on foot in all assigned areas. Watch and listen for suspicious behavior or unusual situations that may create a security or safety concern. Sound alarms or call the police/fire department as needed in a security or safety situation. Conduct checkpoint screening of all guests and luggage in a professional and polite manner using X‑ray machines and wands. Retain and implement knowledge of all equipment necessary to carry out screening duties, as well as current certification to operate screening equipment. Handle and resolve difficult and sensitive guest inquiries and complaints in coordination with other Brightline entities; respond to questions and information requests from guests and outside agencies. Maintain accurate logs and provide required reports, including investigative documents. Cordially respond to requests for assistance. Remain focused, aware, and vigilant in a busy environment to control access through assigned posts in accordance with Brighline’s security initiatives. Monitor building Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and all intrusion/fire alarm systems. Monitor and review all Brightline communication channels, including our company intranet, bConnected, during work hours to ensure all company and department communications and notifications are promptly reviewed. Experience & Qualifications Required Education and Experience You are energetic with a focused personality and a demonstrated ability to take charge. You remain vigilant while being “on the move”, active, or mobile, and also while stationary for long periods of time. You effectively handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments. You successfully interact with a diverse population while functioning as a team player. You are detail‑oriented while treating everyone with dignity and respect. You have good listening skills and are able to assess situations quickly and effectively. You have superior communication skills and are able to quickly and succinctly share information as needed. You stay cool under pressure and in emergency situations. You are prepared to work towards and obtain your security license before operations begin. You have one year of experience as a Licensed “Class D” security field – this is not required, but a PLUS. You are a minimum of 18 years old. You are able to work shifts, including weekends and holidays. You speak, read, and write English at a High School level. We will make all attempts to provide a predictable work schedule, but the ability to pick up last‑minute shifts is a PLUS. The ability to speak multiple languages is not required, but a PLUS. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent leadership and team management skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and external partners. Demonstrated abilities to manage projects in either Retail, Food and Beverage, or other ancillary revenue products. Strong quantitative and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to make data‑driven decisions. Keen ability to deal effectively with guests, management, teammates, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines. Strong communication, critical thinking, and presentation skills; including the ability to provide written and verbal direction effectively. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Managerial Responsibility None Work Environment Works in a clean, air‑conditioned office space, free of noise, dust, and humidity. Physical Demands Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. This position is very active, and the employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl all day. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. No specific vision requirements. Objects weighing 70 pounds or more must be accompanied by a second individual to avoid injury.
