CNC Bridgeport

Our client, an aerospace and defense manufacturer in Sterling Heights, is seeking a metal finishing technician to join their team. As a CNC Bridgeport machinist, you will be part of the assembly team supporting production goals. The ideal candidate will have ability to work independently, a strong work ethic, and reliability which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: CNC Bridgeport machinist

Location: Sterling Heights, Michigan

Pay Range: up to $29/hr

Shift: 1st shift: 5am-3:30pm Monday-Friday 10 hour shifts

2nd shift: 2pm-12:30am Monday-Friday 10 hour shifts

Saturday is mandatory overtime typically 6-8 hours

What's the Job?

• Set up, operate, and monitor a Bridgeport CNC machine to produce precision parts according to blueprints, drawings, and CNC programs.

• Load materials, select proper cutting tools, and perform tool offsets and machine adjustments to ensure accurate machining.

• Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify dimensions and quality standards.

• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot machining issues, and maintain a clean, safe work area while following shop safety practices.

What's Needed?

• Ability to read blueprints and GD&T, understand G-code/M-code, and operate the Bridgeport CNC control (e.g., EZ-Trak). Formal training or demonstrated experience in CNC milling/Lathe is typically required.

• Competence in setting up workholding, installing and offsetting tools, setting work coordinates, and verifying programs through dry runs to ensure safe operation.

• Knowledge of shop safety practices, proper use of PPE, lockout/tagout procedures, and adherence to OSHA and company safety standards while operating and maintaining the machine.

• Ability to perform routine maintenance (lubrication, inspections), monitor machine performance, and use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators) to verify part accuracy.
