Maintenance Technician | Bakery Equipment & Facility Support (Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain high-volume bakery production equipment in a fast-paced, food manufacturing environment.)

Location: Mokena, IL Shift: 2nd Shift | Schedule varies based on production needs

• Typical hours: 5:00 PM - 3:30 AM
• Weekend availability required
• Pay: $30-$38/hr (based on experience)

Role Summary:

Randstad USA is hiring a full-time Maintenance Technician for a growing food production company in Mokena, IL. This is a direct hire opportunity with flexible schedules and excellent long-term growth potential. The Maintenance Technician will support day-to-day production by maintaining bakery equipment, responding to breakdowns, and performing preventive maintenance across mixers, ovens, conveyors, packaging lines, and facility systems.

Minimum Requirements:

• 2+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in food, bakery, or high-speed manufacturing
• Experience maintaining Auto-Bake Serpentine ovens
• strong troubleshooting skills in pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems
• Comfortable working in fast-paced environments and independently solving issues
• Ability to read equipment manuals, schematics, and basic mechanical diagrams
• Must have own hand tools; secure onsite toolbox provided

Preferred:

• bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Welding/fabrication experience
• Familiarity with automated bakery systems and industrial ovens

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights
• Able to work around heat and noise in a food production setting

Compensation & Benefits:

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on mixers, ovens, conveyors, cooling tunnels, and automated packaging equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections to minimize downtime
• Support changeovers and production line setups
• Replace worn parts (belts, bearings, sprockets, seals, etc.)
• Maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including leak repairs and valve adjustments
• Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and power tools safely
• Conduct minor fabrication tasks (cutting, grinding, drilling)
• Document repairs, parts usage, and downtime activity
• Follow GMPs, PPE use, and lockout/tagout procedures
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Sanitation teams to maintain a clean and efficient operation

The essential functions of this role include:

• wearing steel toe shoes
