Staff Accountant

Atrium is seeking on behalf of our client a Staff Accountant based in Stamford, CT . A background check may be run only after a conditional offer is made, where permitted by law . Position: Staff Accountant Location: Stamford, CT Employment Type: Full-time Compensation: 65000-75000 Position Overview The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the month-end close process. This position involves preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial reporting. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Responsibilities Prepare and post monthly journal entries with supporting documentation. Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes. Perform balance sheet and bank account reconciliations, resolving discrepancies promptly. Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data. Support cash management activities, including cash reporting and reconciliations. Reconcile high-volume payment, disbursement, and customer transaction activity. Required Experience/Skills Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 2–5 years of accounting experience, including month-end close processes. Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting fundamentals. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP). Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or QuickBooks. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Experience/Skills Experience in fintech, banking, financial services, or payments industry. Familiarity with revenue recognition and deferred revenue accounting. Exposure to audit support and financial statement preparation. Knowledge of payment processing and transaction reconciliation. Experience working in a regulated financial services environment. Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus. Continuing education in accounting standards and financial regulations preferred.
