Position Information Position Title: Assistant/Associate Professor Division: College of Health Sciences Department: Physical Therapy Number of hours per week: 37.5 Days to be worked: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Months per year: Fiscal (12 months) Job Type: Full-Time Campus: Main Campus Position Number: 043170 Advertised Salary: $99,500.00 Pay Basis: Monthly Open Date: 07/08/2026 Close Date: 07/24/2026 Job Category: Faculty Requisition Number: F165P Job Description Faculty responsibilities include teaching assigned courses in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program; developing and contributing to a focused scholarly agenda relevant to physical therapy; serving as faculty research advisor for DPT students; other student advising roles in the DPT program; and supporting the program, department, university through academic and professional service roles. Opportunities for leadership in management of DPT Clinical Education are available for applicants with experience and/or interest that role. In addition, TSU Physical therapy operates a pro‑bono, student‑led, volunteer supported, physical and occupational therapy clinic integrated with the DPT curriculum that offers faculty opportunity to practice, teach, supervise students and conduct research as part of this exceptional clinical site. Minimum Qualifications Earned academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc) in physical therapy or related field (preferred) Candidates with a DPT degree and advanced clinical certification will be considered. Candidates with an academic doctoral degree near completion may be considered. Eligible for PT licensure in Tennessee (required) Minimum Of Three Years Clinical Practice Experience (required) Experience as a physical therapist Clinical Instructor (CI), Site Coordinator of Clinical Education (SCCE), Director of Clinical Education (DCE) and/or teaching experience in a physical therapist education program (strongly preferred) Certification and/or evidence of advanced training in physical therapy specialty practice area(s) (strongly preferred) Established scholarly agenda with published research history (preferred) Special Instructions to Applicants Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a criminal background check as mandated by Tennessee State University.
