[ Job Summary: The City of Greeley is seeking a Maintenance Technician or Water Systems Technician l – IV to join the Wastewater Collections team in the Water and Sewer Department. The Technician will report to the Crew Supervisor I - Wastewater Collections and will assist in the routine maintenance of sanitary sewer lines and other related equipment and facilities. The Maintenance Technician will inspect and perform necessary repairs and perform preventive maintenance necessary to maintain sanitary sewer lines. The position requires field work involving working in confined spaces, excavation trenches, and near the operation of heavy equipment. Specific tasks may involve operating various equipment, keeping logs on corrections, ordering, and installing replacement parts, etc. Stand-by duty for emergency call-in is rotated among division employees. Experience, Education, and Skills Minimum Requirements All Levels: * High school diploma or equivalent (required for licensure in the State of Colorado) * Basic understanding and knowledge of working with methods, materials and equipment used in utility maintenance work (e.g., metal detectors, measuring instruments, pick, shovels, probe rods, dump trucks, and heavy equipment, etc.). * Must be available and able to commit to being on-call as part of a rotational schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. * Must be willing to respond to after-hour emergencies within 45 minutes, even if not on call. Additional Qualifications: Maintenance Technician: * Current Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire. Water System Technician I:

• One (1) month of related experience.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
• Wastewater Collection System Operator 1 Certification.

Water Systems Technician II:

• Two (2) years of related experience.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
• Wastewater Collection System Operator 2 Certification.

Water Systems Technician III:

• Three (3) years of related experience.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
• Wastewater Collection System Operator 3 Certification.

Water Systems Technician IV:

• Four (4) years of related experience.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
• Wastewater Collection System Operator 4 Certification.

OR * Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job,

AND

* Possession of a valid driver’s license. Preferred:

• Prior water, sewer, or streets maintenance related experience preferred.
• Prior mechanical experience is preferred.
• Prior experience and comfortability working in a heavy traffic environment

preferred.

• Flagger or Traffic Control certification.
• Confined Space Entry training or certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Knowledge of water system construction, maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance practices. * Knowledge of confined space entry, trench safety, traffic control, workplace safety practices, and other applicable utility safety procedures. * Knowledge of maintenance tools, equipment, and materials used in utility operations. * Skills in operating hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, and vehicles safely and effectively. * Skills in reading and interpreting maps, utility plans, electrical schematics, and technical drawings. * Skills in recordkeeping, work order documentation, time management, and effective communication. * Skills in utilizing Microsoft Office applications, CityWorks or similar work management software, and other technology used to support utility operations. * Ability to respond to emergencies, participate in on-call rotations, and adapt to changing operational priorities. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining effective working relationships with coworkers and the public. * Ability to communicate effectively, maintain accurate records, and provide quality customer service. * Ability to learn new technologies, software, equipment, and work processes as required. Travel - Regular Local/Field Based Travel: This position requires regular travel within the County and nearby cities. Employees frequently travel to field sites, client locations, or other City buildings as part of their job duties. Access to a personal or City fleet vehicle may be required. Essential Functions: * Perform routine inspection, maintenance, repair, cleaning, and rehabilitation of sanitary sewer mains, service lines, manholes, lift stations, and related wastewater collection system infrastructure. * Conduct preventive maintenance activities to improve system reliability and reduce emergency repairs. * Inspects and performs necessary repairs and preventative maintenance on sanitary sewer lines. * Perform confined space entry, excavation work, traffic control, and other field activities while following established safety procedures.

• Operates various equipment.
• Creates and maintains logs on maintenance, corrections, ordering of supplies,

and installation of replacement parts.

• Participates in stand-by duty for emergency call-ins on a rotational basis.
• Complete work orders, inspection reports, maintenance records, equipment

logs, and related documentation utilizing CityWorks or other computerized maintenance management systems. * Maintain tools, vehicles, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and serviceable condition. * Communicate effectively with coworkers, contractors, supervisors, and the public while providing excellent customer service.

• Participate in departmental safety meetings and required training programs.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency callouts after

normal working hours, weekends, and holidays. * Perform other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A Work Environment: * Work is performed primarily outdoors throughout the City's wastewater collection system, including sanitary sewer mains, manholes, lift stations, easements, roadways, rights-of-way, and construction sites, with occasional indoor work at maintenance facilities. * Routinely exposed to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, ice, wind, and direct sunlight. * Frequently works in and around wastewater, biological hazards, confined spaces, excavation trenches, standing water, and potentially hazardous materials while following established safety procedures. * Regularly works near moving traffic, heavy equipment, construction zones, and active utility infrastructure requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), traffic control devices, and safe work practices. * Operates and works around heavy equipment and specialized maintenance equipment, including jet/vac trucks, CCTV inspection equipment, pumps, compressors, generators, and power tools, with exposure to noise, vibration, dust, fumes, and moving machinery. * Work may require climbing ladders, entering manholes, walking on uneven terrain, lifting heavy materials, and performing physically demanding tasks for extended periods. * May be required to work extended shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency callouts as part of an on-call rotation to support wastewater collection system operations. Physical Requirements: * Mobility: Ability to frequently walk, stand, climb ladders, enter and exit manholes, navigate uneven terrain, work in confined spaces, and access wastewater collection system infrastructure. * Strength: Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move heavier materials up to 100 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment. * Endurance: Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods in varying weather conditions while maintaining attention to safety and quality. * Dexterity: Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, controls, and specialized wastewater collection equipment requiring manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. * Flexibility: Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach overhead and below waist level, and work in restricted or awkward positions while performing maintenance and repair activities. * Vision and Hearing: Ability to maintain visual acuity to inspect equipment, read gauges, maps, work orders, and technical information, distinguish colors when required, and safely perform work. Ability to hear verbal instructions, equipment sounds, alarms, and warning signals in a variety of work environments.
