Job Details:


• 12-hour shifts with day/PM shifts running 7:00 AM to 11:30 PM and overnight shifts running 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Patient ratios: Days/PMs 1:4-5, Overnight 1:6-8
• Tech ratios: Day 1:6, Night 1:7
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• No block scheduling
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday expectations include 1 summer and 1 winter holiday
• Overtime only approved by manager
• Cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per fatigue policy
• Care for patient types including CHF, EP studies, afib and dysrhythmias, Coumadin loading, cardiac-heart failure, cath lab, amputations, and pre-surgical patients
• Required skills include cardiac drips (Primacor, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine), heparin, Lasix, and insulin drips
• Must be proficient in chest tube management, tracheostomy care, telemetry reading, and wound care
• Charting system: EPIC preferred; equipment includes Alaris, Pyxis, and GE monitors
• May float to other inpatient areas within scope of practice, including occasional ICU assignments for appropriate MS patients and ED Holding at a 1:4 ratio
• Travelers are first to float and may float at any time during shift to a comparable floor acuity
• Orientation includes at least one shift to learn workflow
• Required certification: BLS
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Scrub color: Any - no camouflage or denim
• Must document pain level before and after administering pain medications, ensuring pain score aligns with the appropriate medication order

This facility is a large 933-bed hospital holding Magnet Designation, recognizing excellence in nursing practice and patient care. It operates as a Level III Trauma Center and a Level III NICU, while also serving as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The telemetry unit consists of 27 beds and benefits from robust support services including 24/7 unit secretaries, hospitalists, and respiratory therapy, as well as centralized telemetry monitoring with a dedicated telemetry technician.
