Job Details
The Lead Line Cook will take ownership of our wine bar service, driving consistency, speed, and precision during peak service hours. You are responsible for ensuring the line is set up for success before service begins and successfully closing down the kitchen alongside one other line cook. This is a hands-on role perfect for an experienced cook looking to flex their mentorship skills and step into kitchen leadership.
Requirements & What We're Looking For
2–3+ years of experience working a fast-paced, high-quality hot line.
Comfortable and genuinely excited about guiding and mentoring others on the line. You know how to keep a small team focused, positive, and running smoothly under pressure.
Trustworthy and reliable to handle both the opening/set-up checklists and closing/breakdown protocols efficiently.
Exceptional line mechanics, strong knife skills, great ticket pacing, and a meticulous eye for plating and quality control.
A positive attitude and excellent communication skills—you enjoy working side-by-side with a small, focused team to execute a seamless service.
Food Handler's License required.
Nice to have:
- Experience opening a new cafe or restaurant
- You've read Alison's newsletter or at least cooked a recipe or two. Familiarity with her style will be helpful in knowing how this place is going to come to life.
- Familiarity with New York food and hospitality.
The details:
- Full-time in Brooklyn Heights
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and move up to 30 lbs., and perform the physical tasks required to operate and maintain the coffee bar.
- A current New York City Food Protection Certificate is required.
