Accounts Receivable / Collections Specialist - Full Time

Description We are currently seeking an ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE/COLLECTIONS SPECIALIST to join our team at Weiser Memorial Hospital. This position is benefit eligible: Idaho State Retirement (PERSI) , 401(k), Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and time off accruals. Monday - Friday Competitive Salary (depending on experience) Full-Time Monday - Friday 8am-5pm Benefit Eligible Wage D.O.E.

The AR/Collection Specialist is responsible for managing the insurance billing and collections process between the hospital, insurance companies, federal agencies, and third-party payers.  

Key duties include:

• Auditing patient accounts to ensure accurate procedures, charges, and coding. 
• Collecting payments from commercial insurance companies, state, and federal agencies.
• Generating patient self-pay statements, including balances owed by uninsured patients, balances after insurance payments, and accounts returned from Med Data after assistance program reviews.
• Handling a high volume of inbound and outbound collection-related phone calls.
• Collaborating with the Financial Counselor to assist patients with payment plans.
• Participating in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and other performance improvement activities.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.

Proficiency in data entry using PC based software.

Able to work independently with little or no supervision.

Previous knowledge of billing and collection processes.

Ability to communicate in English both verballing and in writing.

Good Phone Etiquette.

Customer Service Skills.

Medical Billing knowledge preferred.

Knowledge of patient assistance programs preferred.

Bilingual Preferred.
