NYS Retirement; Health, Dental, Vision Benefits; Paid time off; CSEA Union; Cost of living and step increases.LocationCity of Saratoga Springs NY – Department of Public Works – Urban Forestry Division.Required Minimum QualificationsThe following qualification(s) must be met and clearly detailed on the City of Saratoga Springs employment application form by the last filing date to be approved and considered for interview and appointment:Must possess a current and valid NYS Driver's License AND current and valid CDL, (must maintain both for the duration of employment) ANDOne year of full-time paid experience in the operation of construction heavy motor equipment ORTwo years of full-time paid experience in the operation of lighter to medium construction motor equipment or lighter to medium public works equipment.Special NotesExperience in forestry or arboricultural work desired:Pruning trees, including dangerous limbs;Tree and stump removal;Plants and prunes trees;Transports tree trimming and other public works materials and equipment.DutiesThe work involves responsibility for the operation of a variety of medium and heavy motor equipment, machinery and tools on public works projects including the construction, maintenance and/or repair of municipal streets, parks and grounds, water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems.The incumbent also transports construction equipment and machinery to and from work sites.The incumbent also performs other activities connected with the work, including pre-shift equipment inspections, routine lubrication and maintenance of equipment, and manual labor.The incumbent may oversee the work of Laborers and Motor Equipment Operators on a specific assigned project.The position differs from that of Motor Equipment Operators by the greater size, weight and complexity of the equipment operated.The work is performed under general supervision of the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Public Works and the direct supervision of the Working Supervisors.
