Preventative Maintenance Diesel Technician

ABCO Transportation has an immediate opportunity for a Reefer Trailer Mechanic at our Ocala FL Service Center. Come and experience the difference with ABCO! The Reefer Trailer Mechanic will be responsible to manage assigned work, processes and procedures to ensure that company equipment meets or exceeds DOT and OSHA specifications. Summary of Key Responsibilities Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following: Perform the maintenance, repair and reconditioning of Reefer units, Dry Trailers and Alternate Power Units (APU’s) Diagnose complex mechanical, refrigerant, and electrical problems related to all Reefer systems (single temp), including engine, cooling, heating and on board computer modules Perform repair and maintenance on truck APU’s Perform preventive maintenance for all vehicles serviced by facility Maintain the maintenance shop and its associated facilities in a state of operational readiness during its scheduled working hours Maintain clean, orderly and safe working environment Maintain, keep current on new training and development for diesel, reefer, tractor and trailer components, repair and maintenance technology. Reefer Trailer Mechanic Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of shop tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists and mechanical equipment Advance knowledge of reefer electrical and mechanical systems Skilled in the repair and preventative maintenance of reefer engines, systems, trailers and components. Proven service background with knowledge of warranties Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external staff and business partners Intermediate computer, skills required including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Advanced computer diagnostic skills and understanding. Ability to read, write and speak English fluently. Qualifications Summary of Experience and Education High School Diploma or GED required Minimum of 2 years of diesel repair experience Minimum of 2 years Reefer trailer mechanical repair experience – Thermo King units a plus ASE Certification as a Master Truck Technician and/or Master Automotive Technician preferred Schedule: 3 on 4 off/ 4 on 3 off, 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM EST ABCO Transportation is a trucking company based in Florida that specializes in nationwide truckload, drayage and refrigerated shipping.
