Job Description

Responsible for the design and implementation of company machinery, machinery components, processes and facilities
* Management of assignments and the development & implementation of improvements, modifications to equipment and facilities
* 3D modeling of products and machinery; 2D layouts of products, facilities and equipment
* Maintenance of drawings database
* Operation and maintenance of 3D printer for prototypes, tooling, machine parts
* Testing and evaluation of prototype products
* Development of product technical specifications
* Provide technical direction to vendors and contractors
* Provide technical assistance, advice, as well as physical mechanical aid to the operations and maintenance groups of the company as required
* Work with engineering staff, mechanics and helpers on shift – at times supervising as applicable
* Work with Maintenance Manager to ensure proper operation of equipment and optimize processes
* Assist in troubleshooting and/or repair of equipment where required
* Provide on-going training and support to ensure team members acquire the skills and knowledge needed to do their job efficiently and effectively
* Provide feedback to team members on shift to support their continued growth
* Demonstrate and encourage team spirit within Engineering and other departments
* Ensure team members have the tools needed to perform their job function
* Ensure equipment is operating at peak level to support targets, goals and efforts of the production team
* Ensure all team members follow safety policies
* Support the efforts of the engineering and maintenance departments by providing input of ideas and feedback to managers
* Continually seek ways to improve equipment, maintenance functions and production processes
* Assist in the continual development of procedures for the various facility machines and processes
* Interact effectively with all Managers, Supervisors, maintenance personnel, and machine operators
* Comply with all internal procedures and policies including accurate completion of schedules, safety questionnaires and checklists
* Ensure that all pertinent information is shared with the engineering, maintenance team and production staff
* Ensure a clean work environment
* Respond to internal emails / texts in a timely manner
* Assist in the direction and mentoring of engineering co-op students and junior staff
* Travel and provide technical support, project work, and assistance to other organizational facilities as necessary
* Travel to customer facilities to perform troubleshooting, repairs, or technical assistance as required
* Other duties as required

Qualifications

* Mechanical Technician Diploma OR Millwright license OR comparable experience
* 5 yrs+ experience in an industrial production environment / industry; plastic injection molding experience preferred
* Experience working with contractors and vendors
* Proficient in Solid Works (CAD)
* Ability to work on the tools
* Machining and welding skills required
* Good problem solving, time management and organizational skills
* Ability to prioritize
