This position requires a deep understanding of embedded systems and hardware supporting defense systems and vehicle platforms. In addition to technical leadership, the role provides direct supervision and career development to 2-7 direct reports, supporting performance management, mentoring, and process development.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS: Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:LeadershipManage performance, development, and goal setting of direct reportsMentor and develop technical capabilities within the teamAssist with employee retention and recruitmentAssist with budget and department goal settingDefense Electronics Technical LeadershipLead the technical execution of mechatronic and embedded systems including component selection, system architecture, control methodsEstimates effort and identifies required skillsetsCoordinates with cross functional project leads to ensure project successDefines system architecture and functionalityEnsures compliance with industry and program-specific requirementsSupport customer interactions, technical reviews, and proposal effortsCreate and approve engineering drawings, schematics, ICD’s and specificationsDevelop new processes and engineering toolsSystem Hardware IntegrationTroubleshoot and resolve electrical system issuesCommunicate mechanical requirements of system including cable routings, thermal management and hardware packaging to design staffIdentify and communicate controller I/O requirements to controls staffEDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:BS or MS in Automotive, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Systems.Minimum 6+ years of engineering experience.DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:High Voltage system design and hardware development experienceMotors, inverters, DCDC Converters, BatteriesHigh Voltage Safety Design Requirements and ProceduresSAE Standards: J1673, J2344, J2929Communication protocols: CAN, LIN, SPI, J1939, Wireless 802.11, Ethernet, EtherCATProficiency in engineering software tools such as:CAD tools: Creo/WindchillSchematic/Harness Design: Vesys, Capital, ZukenPCB Design: KiCAD, EagleNetwork debug tools: Kvaser, Vector CANalyzer or CANoePrinted Circuit Board design experienceWire harness and cabling design experienceVehicle and system troubleshooting experienceProven ability to motivate, inspire, develop personnelExpertise in specific areas such as:Electrical and Hybrid vehicle systemsWeapon SystemsCombat Vehicle EngineeringFire Control SystemsTurrets and Ammo Handling SystemsKnowledge of MIL Standards for electronicsMIL-HDBK-1857, -4548, -454BMIL-STD-464, -461, -1275MIL-spec Connection systems: MIL-DTL-38999, -5015PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Position requires light physical activity.EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:Daytime schedule Monday – Friday with infrequent night/weekend work to achieve deadlines.Occasional travel as required for on-site customer work.Pay Range:$104,100.00 - $173,900.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations.
