About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) to serve as its Chief Academic Officer and provide visionary leadership in teaching, learning, and academic and workforce program development. The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding educational access, driving educational excellence, and fostering partnerships with external stakeholders to ensure student success and completion. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to enhance the quality and relevance of academic programs, aligning them with the institution's dual transfer and workforce development missions, and promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in teaching and learning. The VPAA will also be involved in supervising and evaluating academic deans, supporting faculty and staff development, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. Applicants for the VPAA position at the company should possess a doctorate in an academic discipline, a doctorate in other relevant fields, or a law degree, and have at least 7 years' experience in the higher education field, with a minimum of 5 years' of full-time teaching experience. The role requires an excellent communicator who is collaborative, inclusive, and committed to the mission of the institution. The VPAA will be expected to engage in regular communication, foster open dialogue, and work towards creating an inclusive learning and working environment. Responsibilities also include serving as an external advocate for the institution, cultivating partnerships, and ensuring that academic programs meet the needs of the community. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, promote the values of inclusion and principled leadership, and be dedicated to the success of students and the institution.
