Overview About The Unit: Big Rapids Campus has a 22 bed medical surgical unit and a 4 bed critical care unit. This campus is the perfect place to gain experience as a new nurse and grow your career. The patient population is diverse, primarily hospitalist medicine patients with diagnoses such as pneumonia, COPD, cellulitis, kidney failure, and bowel obstructions. The campus collaborates with an interdisciplinary team including hospitalists, care managers, social workers, pharmacy, nurse technicians, physical therapists, and occupational therapists to provide quality care. Scope of Work Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization, and acting as a safety attendant for patients. They also maintain a clean environment and communicate any equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of employment.
