Human Resources Specialist

Job Summary

A Human Resources Specialist is needed for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Columbia, SC. This role supports day-to-day HR operations with a strong focus on onboarding, benefits administration, employee records, HRIS updates, and employee support.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate new hire onboarding, including paperwork, orientation, employment verification, and benefits enrollment.
- Assist employees with benefits questions related to health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, leave programs, and other employee programs.
- Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, HRIS data, payroll updates, and employee status changes.
- Support HR compliance processes, including I-9 documentation, employment eligibility verification, and policy administration.
- Assist with recruitment activities such as job postings, applicant tracking, interview coordination, and pre-employment processes.
- Prepare HR reports, correspondence, employee documentation, and other administrative HR materials as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay range: $24 to $26 per hour.
- Job type: Temp-to-Hire.
- Location: Columbia, SC.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Coordinate employee onboarding, orientation, employment verification, and benefits enrollment.
- Maintain HRIS records, personnel files, payroll updates, and employee documentation.
- Support benefits administration, HR compliance, I-9 processes, and employee policy questions.
- Assist with recruitment coordination, reporting, and general HR department operations.

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant Human Resources experience.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle confidential employee and company information with professionalism.
- Strong customer service mindset and ability to respond effectively to employee and manager questions.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience with employee onboarding and benefits administration.
- Experience working with HRIS, payroll, or applicant tracking systems.
- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting I-9 documentation and employment eligibility verification.
- Experience with employee relations support, policy administration, and recruitment coordination.
