Registered Nurse ICU Neuro Cardiovascular

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the ICU setting will provide expert nursing care to patients with complex neurological, cardiovascular, trauma, and surgical conditions. This role demands strong clinical skills in managing high acuity patients including those with stroke, STEMI, multi-trauma, and post-operative care. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care, perform assessments, administer treatments, and support critical interventions in a fast-paced acute care environment. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and certifications in ACLS, BLS, NIH, and LA Fire Card are required. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to critically ill patients with neurological, cardiovascular, trauma, and surgical diagnoses.
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor vital signs and neurological status.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Manage and operate specialized equipment such as IABP, CRRT, and ventilators.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and provide life-saving interventions.
• Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic medical records.
• Float between ICU and PCU units as needed to manage patient overflow.
• Maintain compliance with hospital protocols and safety standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years ICU or critical care nursing experience.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, LA Fire Card.
• Strong neurocritical care experience including stroke and thrombectomy care.
• Competence in managing cardiovascular emergencies including STEMI, CABG, valve surgeries, and IABP.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Epic electronic health records system.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in trauma care including multi-trauma, gunshot wounds, and motor vehicle accidents.
• Knowledge of orthopedic post-operative care.
• Previous work experience in a Magnet designated acute care facility.

Special Considerations:

• No weekend shifts required.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Floating between ICU and PCU units for overflow patient care is expected.
• Must be able to work in a Level 2 Trauma and Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center environment.

Scheduling:

• Shift assignments determined by unit needs; primarily day shifts with no weekend requirement.
• Standard acute care hospital shift patterns, with flexibility to float between units.
