Outside Plant Fiber Optic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Optic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least six years of hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance within outside plant environments. A strong understanding of fiber optic theory and in-depth knowledge of fiber optic test and verification equipment is essential.

Performing fiber optic cable installation, splicing, terminations, and testing in aerial, underground, and Data Center environments

Operating, maintaining, and interpreting results from optical test equipment including OTDRs, light source/power meters, and fiber inspection scopes

Conducting site surveys, document field conditions, and providing input for design and engineering teams

Interpreting and working from engineering prints, schematics, and splice diagrams

Troubleshooting fiber optic systems and perform emergency restoration work when necessary

Maintaining detailed records of work performed, including test results and cable routing

Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and industry standards

Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other field personnel to ensure timely completion of work

Traveling between 50% to 75% to specific CONUS and OCONUS locations

Requirements

• Six years of experience in outside plant fiber optic installation and maintenance
• Secret clearance but able to obtain Top Secret/SCI
• Possess or able to obtain a BICSI certification
• Knowledge of fiber optic theory, including attenuation, dispersion, connector types, and fiber types (SM/MM)
• Able to splice Single and Ribbon fiber, splice on connectors
• Experience in installation of Racks and cable ladder
• Proficient in Visio creating rack diagrams and detailed Cable drawings
• Ability to lift, carry, and move 50 lbs
• Willing to work evenings when required

Desired Skills

• Experience with GIS mapping or fiber management software
• Knowledge of construction permitting and right-of-way procedures
• Experience working in federal or secure environments

SRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS, A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE SECRET LEVEL WITH TOP SECRET / SCI ELIGIBILITY
