Machining Section Leader

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership to less experienced employees.
• Act as a first point of contact for Machining Associate, Operators, and Level l Machinists as a Section Leader
• Train Machining Associates/Operators in metrology
• Sketching and fabricating fixtures
• Develop or assist in the development of new set-ups and programs for new products or process changes including the initiation and completion of process verifications.
• Sharpen cutting tools such as broaches, drills, and end mills. Performs preventive maintenance on machinery.
• Set up and operate multi-axis CNC and/or manual equipment, tools and accessories for the fabrication and cutting of materials to process component parts.
• Maintain close tolerance dimensions while producing parts at the rates established for a particular operation.
• Identify and participate in resolving machining problems in order to produce defect free parts.
• Performs verification/validation of new set-up programs for new product or pre-production parts.
• Performs in-process and first article inspections at the primary metrology skill level.
• Understands/edits multi axis G-code/M-code mill programs, multi axis G-code lathe programs and up to multi axis Mazatrol lathe programs as required.

Work experience requirements: A minimum of 10 years' work experience on a variety of CNC equipment in a machining environment.

Other Attributes:

• Troubleshooting of multi-axis CNC equipment.
• Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the use of cutting tools and their use to produce defect free parts.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, demonstrate the ability to read blueprints and interpret geometric tolerances.
• Must be able to demonstrate metrology skills. Able to produce parts at the optimum rates with zero defects.
• Must demonstrate the ability to operate equipment without causing injury to oneself or damage to equipment, or product.
