This position is for our Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic. Consists of a 2-2-3 rotating 12-hour schedule from 7p-7a. Starting pay is $32.00- $45.00 based on experience and skillset. Shift premium for this is $3.50/ hour. POSITION SUMMARY To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Mechanics report directly to the Maintenance Manager and are responsible for inspecting, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing all plant equipment assigned to him/her. In-depth knowledge of all plant machinery operations is required. In performing these responsibilities, associates are to work safely, efficiently, and cooperatively in a manner that demonstrates team member involvement. Mechanics must follow a systematic process for accomplishing preventive, scheduled and emergency equipment maintenance. Mechanics must be knowledgeable of industrial electricity (all phases and voltages), mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic operations, troubleshooting techniques, blueprint, schematic analysis and proper use of tools and diagnostic equipment. Mechanics must demonstrate proper documentation and housekeeping practices to ensure quality maintenance is being performed and communicated. Mechanics have the responsibility for identifying equipment deficiencies which affect quality control, wear and tear and excess costs. KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES Work in a professional manner with other maintenance personnel as needed to keep all equipment in top working order resulting in only quality products being released to the customer. Troubleshoot, remove and replace different types of electronic, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and optic systems. Pre-inspect parts or equipment to be repaired to determine what parts, supplies, forms, tools, repair and shop equipment are required; and communicate with the Maintenance Manager. Diagnose and repair AC and DC motor controls. Replace belts, pulleys, cables, chains, bearings, gears and related equipment. Communicate with other plant personnel when requested to, to review deficiencies. Accurately log all work performed. Maintain work areas in a clean orderly manner. Operate a forklift safely and efficiently. Be thoroughly familiar with plant lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safety, hazard communication program, personal protective equipment and other safety programs and apply these procedures when working on equipment. It is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Work off of a ladder or in high or cramped spaces. Must be skillful in diagnosing and repairing plastic injection molding equipment and accessories. Talented in troubleshooting industrial motors, starters, controls, and panels. High school education or GED equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good hand and eye coordination is very essential. Demonstrated dexterity in using hand tools. Ability to lift 100 pounds and carry 50 pounds safely. Ability to intermittently sit, bend, climb, twist, crouch, reach, and lower. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to transfer and to interpret the explanation of problems and to receive and understand work assignments. Achieve and maintain required certified electrical worker status including certified CPR. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Preferred 2 to 3 years’ experience with maintenance. Understanding of hydraulics. Electrical background preferred. Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics. Knowledge of PLC. Ability to operate a forklift safely and professionally.
