Licensed Practical Nurse

The current rate for this position is $1,993.69 semi‑monthly. Individuals selected for this position may receive a higher rate based on a pay differential (e.g., shift, or time‑of‑service pay). This is advanced practical nursing work in the care and treatment of patients or residents in a facility of the Missouri Division of Youth Services. The position performs a variety of nursing duties including preparing nursing assessment summaries and health‑care plans, implementing health‑care plans, instructing residents and patients in performing personal health care, and performing preventative nursing care. Responsibilities Perform practical nursing work in the care and treatment of youth in a facility of the Missouri Division of Youth Services. Provide each youth with a complete physical exam upon entry into the facility. Create a complete medical file for each youth and maintain it in accordance with DYS medical policies. Establish medication logs for each group and review logs weekly to ensure they are current and staff is dispensing medications correctly. See all youth requesting medical attention, and review all medical complaints, injury reports, and physicians’ orders daily. Maintain awareness of all youth identified as having special health‑care needs and report significant findings to the supervisor. Inventory medications twice per month, check inventory quarterly to ensure it meets agency requirements, and assist RN with medication reviews and the preparation and submission of reports. Provide immunizations to youth as directed by policy, maintain immunization records, and submit them to appropriate agencies. Transport students and/or families to appointments and other locations as necessary. Conduct CPR and First Aid classes for youth and staff, obtain and maintain certification as a CPR and First Aid instructor, and work with management to ensure all staff are certified in CPR and standard First Aid. Provide health‑care and hygiene instruction to youth, staff, and families, promoting health, prevention, and management of illness, injury, and special health needs. Complete all required reports and correspondence in a timely, accurate manner in accordance with established procedures and formats. Perform other related work as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of current nursing theory, practices, and techniques. Ability to work an assigned schedule that may include a variety of shifts, weekends, holidays, and/or required overtime. Qualifications Possession of a current license to practice as a Practical Nurse in the State of Missouri or in accordance with Missouri’s Nurse Licensure Compact, and one or more years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Pursuant to State Law, this position requires accreditation, licensure, and/or professional or occupational license that is only available to holders of specific post‑secondary degrees. Possession of a valid driver’s license.
