OCYL Early Childhood Music & Movement Teacher Location: 1464 Diamond Hill Road, Suite 2, Cumberland, RI 02864 Status: Executive Staff, Non-Union, Part-time, Seasonal Employee of the Town of Cumberland Job Title: Early Childhood Music & Movement Teacher Reports to: OCYL Early Childhood Education Coordinator, Lori Beauregard Wages: Flat fee of $80 per class Classes and Schedules Adult/Child Movement & Movement Class for Ages 0-3 Wednesday: 9:00 - 9:45 AM and 10:15 – 11:00 AM Thursday: 9:00 - 9:45 AM and 10:15 – 11:00 AM Fall: 8 classes, Winter & Spring: 7 classes each Music & Movement Class for ages 4-5 Wednesday: 12:15- 1:15 PM Fall: 8 classes, Winter & Spring: 7 classes Potential for other early childhood substitute shifts and summer camps/classes Job Description Lead OCYL’s Music & Movement curriculum aligned with RI Early Learning & Development Standards (RIELDS), encouraging growth and development of fundamental musical skills through experiential, play-based classes designed to respect a spectrum of learning styles. Classes foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. OCYL’s Adult/Child classes encourage parents and caregivers to actively participate, enjoy, and enrich the fun, musical learning experience. Duties and Responsibilities Lead effective, developmentally appropriate lessons for each age group. Maintain ongoing communication with the early childhood coordinator to ensure effective lesson plans, safety, and well-being of all students. Care for OCYL’s musical instruments and props and maintain the music storage closet. Greet and record attendance, and release older children to parent/caregiver at pick-up. Communicate positively with parents/guardians and/or other adults attending class or picking up children. Keep shared classrooms neat & clean. Create a safe and nurturing environment. Demonstrate our philosophy: joyful, supportive & dynamic interaction with children. Support all children during self-guided discovery, construction of knowledge, and development of skills. Support each child’s individual development of language, cognition, social/emotional, and gross/fine motor skills. Nurture each child’s potential through positive, developmentally appropriate interactions that promote self-confidence and motivation to learn. Maintain professionalism with students, teachers, administration, and during family interactions. Qualifications, Education, and Experience Experience with teaching early childhood music and movement, ages 0-3 and 4-5. Certification in Music Together, Kindermusik or Montessori Music preferred. Knowledge of RIELDS is beneficial. 1-2 years of Early Childhood classroom experience preferred. Legal authorization to work in the United States. An approved background check/fingerprinting.
