Billing Specialist (Legal) Location: Alexandria, VA Employment Type: Direct Hire Position Overview Our client is a growing, high-profile boutique law firm seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to support its accounting and finance operations. This firm handles complex civil litigation matters and represents clients involved in high-visibility cases, offering an exciting and fast-paced environment. The Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing the full legal billing cycle, ensuring accuracy, compliance with client agreements, and timely processing of invoices. This role requires close collaboration with attorneys and internal teams while maintaining strict confidentiality and delivering high-quality service. Key Responsibilities Manage the full-cycle legal billing process, including compiling, editing, finalizing, and posting invoices Process complex billing arrangements (e.g., split billing, discounts, and customized agreements) with a high degree of accuracy Prepare and submit electronic invoices; resolve any e-billing rejections and monitor submission status Utilize the firm’s billing system (Centerbase) and ensure compliance with outside counsel guidelines Distribute monthly prebills to attorneys and coordinate timely revisions and approvals Communicate effectively with attorneys, staff, clients, and vendors to resolve billing inquiries Generate and analyze WIP, A/R, and on-account reports; track assigned attorney portfolios Review invoices for accuracy and adherence to firm policies and client requirements Research aging WIP and A/R balances and provide recommendations for resolution Support ad hoc billing requests and assist with special projects as needed Qualifications Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred) 1+ year of billing experience within a professional services environment Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume billing in a deadline-driven environment Excellent communication skills with a customer-service mindset Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work both independently and collaboratively Analytical and proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement Work Environment In-office role based in Alexandria, VA #J-18808-Ljbffr
