Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking passionate Critical Care Nurses to join our team in full‑time night shifts in our Assessment and Treatment Center. Why Join Our Critical Care Team? Critical Care Nurse responsibilities include: Advanced Assessment of a patient’s condition and planning and implementing patient care plans. Providing advanced life support including ventilator support; Assisting physicians in performing procedures. Observing and recording patient vital signs as well as intake and outputs every one (1) hour. Ensuring that ventilators, monitors and other types of medical equipment function properly. Administering continuous vasoactive and cardiac medications; Ordering diagnostic tests. Collaborating with fellow members of the critical care team; Provide care using nursing standards and Hospital/ICU protocols for treatment. Acting as patient advocates; Providing education and support to patient families. Caring for both medical and surgical patients; Providing care to the immediate post-operative patient. Responding to Rapid Responses and medical emergencies throughout the medical campus. Being part of end of life conversations as well as collaborating with the Palliative Care and Hospice teams. For the night shift, there is an additional night shift differential of $6.50 per hour. The listed pay rate reflects the potential compensation for this role, and the actual offer may vary based on the candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience: License Requirement: License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York. Education and Experience: 1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time oncology nursing experience; or 2. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time critical care experience; or 3. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting; or 4. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of Roswell Park nursing orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three (3) months (full-time) as a Nurse I at Roswell Park. NOTES: Incumbents will serve a one (1) year full-time probationary period as a Nurse II. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices. Preferred Qualifications: Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher, with strong preference given to those with advanced academic preparation. Oncology experience is highly valued, particularly in settings involving complex cancer care, treatment planning, and patient support. Experience in critical care or emergency department environments is also strongly preferred, as it demonstrates the ability to manage high-acuity patients and respond effectively in fast‑paced clinical situations. In addition, candidates should hold relevant professional nursing certifications, which reflect a commitment to clinical excellence and ongoing professional development.
