Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter, providing critical support to a thriving 9th-grade student in a high school setting. This is an onsite position, working Fridays only, for a total of 6.5 hours each week through May 27, 2027. The assignment is located near Richmond, TX, within a vibrant and supportive school environment.
You will play a pivotal role in this student's educational journey, assisting with academic progress and helping him fully participate in his school community—including his involvement in theater and consistent use of hearing technology. Qualifications & Experience:
- Active license required to practice as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Experience in school-based settings as a language facilitator or interpreter
- Familiarity with supporting students utilizing cochlear implants and academic technology
- Professionalism, strong communication skills, and reliability
- Ability to support a high school curriculum, particularly in Algebra and language arts
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers using sign language
- Provide interpretation in classroom instruction, school activities, and extracurriculars
- Collaborate closely with district staff and ensure compliance with student accommodations
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in educational interpreting
- Support the student's academic and social development, ensuring access to all aspects of school life
