Radiologic Technologist II Part Time Day Shift Job Summary: The Radiologic Technologist II must perform two modalities. They must meet Radiology Tech I criteria plus one additional modality in Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or Interventional Radiology (IR). The technologist must perform all examinations at a technical level that provides adequate diagnosis with limited supervision in accordance with established procedures and protocols. This position performs a variety of diagnostic radiography imaging procedures to provide data for diagnosis and monitoring of disease and injuries in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations, and licensing requirements. Assist physicians and radiologists in performing radiological procedures on patients ranging in age from pediatric to geriatric. Establish and maintain quality control procedures for imaging services and actively contribute to department operations and communications. Behave in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication. Part‑time: 3 shifts per week, weekend availability required. Responsibilities Complete the patient intake process, take patients’ histories, and prepare and educate patients about the imaging procedure. Review patients’ charts and doctors’ notes before the examination and maintain patients’ records during and after procedures. Prepare contrast media for diagnostic imaging. Calibrate equipment to ensure clear, usable images are taken of the correct area, as specified by the doctor. Perform finalizing functions, including limited coding using radiology information systems or medical record systems to provide timely and accurate patient information and charge capture. Ensure proper sterilization and storage of equipment, maintain radiographic equipment, and report any equipment failures. Coordinate with the radiology department to schedule and complete radiographic procedures. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of current radiology practices. Demonstrate knowledge of principles of CT or MRI and computer science as related to scanning. Calibrate systems periodically as required. Demonstrate correct and adequate cross‑sectional anatomic positioning skills. Review exposed films for adequate information required by examination/procedure, technique, and identification as per approved protocols. Demonstrate complete working knowledge of imaging equipment and computer software necessary to perform studies. Select appropriate CT or MRI scanning technique/equipment and determine the most suitable posture/position. Recognize emergency situations, initiate code and be ready to respond as needed. Ensure that all emergency equipment is operational and emergency supplies are always stocked. Review patient questionnaire and requisitions for special instructions. Review with radiologist and patient, if necessary, to assure safety and appropriateness. Assist in training and guidance of new staff and students who rotate through these modalities. Perform any other duties or responsibilities which may be assigned. Use clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, and all internal and external customers. Use AIDET in interactions with patients and family members. Utilize white boards for patient communication. Collaborate across disciplines to assist in coordination of patient care, including but not limited to patient transfer, discharge, referrals, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. Act with a sense of urgency when performing tasks. Perform basic unit/department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, and cabinets free from unnecessary clutter. Report any equipment or environmental issues for repair. Abide by HIPAA regulations. Utilize SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) when communicating with oncoming shift, physician communication and giving report to ancillary or other nursing services. Speak up to stop the line and escalate potential safety events if necessary. Complete and attend monthly training assigned. May float to other areas of the hospital as needed. Experience At least two (2) years of experience working in a hospital or medical institution as a registered/certified radiological technician in X‑Ray, MRI, CT, IR, or US preferred. Critical thinking, service excellence, good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read and comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC skills. Capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with the team members who are recognized leaders within healthcare.
