Job Title: Entry-Level to Experienced Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

This role offers an excellent opportunity for entry-level and experienced assemblers with strong mechanical aptitude to perform light mechanical and electronic assembly in an industrial shop environment. You will build composite pallets that support circuit boards through automated SMT and Wave Solder processes, work from blueprints and assembly instructions, and contribute to shop cleanliness and safety. The position is designed as a development path, with the goal of training motivated individuals to become machine operators and, over time, machinists.

Responsibilities

• Perform light mechanical assembly of composite pallets that hold circuit boards for SMT and Wave Solder automated processes.
• Use basic hand tools and power tools to assemble components according to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions to build units accurately.
• Carry out deburring and part finishing to ensure quality and consistency of assembled parts.
• Assist with electronic and electrical assembly tasks, including basic wiring, as needed.
• Measure and verify components using tape measures and other measuring tools to maintain quality standards.
• Maintain general shop cleanliness and upkeep, including organizing work areas and tools.
• Follow established production safety standards and procedures at all times.
• Stand and work at standing benches for the entirety of the shift as required by production needs.
• Demonstrate reliable work habits and minimal job hopping by maintaining consistent attendance and performance.
• Show initiative and drive to be trained to operate CNC machines and progress toward machinist-level responsibilities.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and timelines.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical aptitude, including comfort using basic hand tools such as screwdrivers.
• Ability to perform mechanical assembly and follow detailed assembly instructions.
• Capability to read and work from blueprints or willingness and aptitude to learn blueprint reading.
• Basic understanding of electronic or electrical assembly and wiring, or strong interest in learning these skills.
• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in assembly and light fabrication.
• Ability to use measuring tools, including tape measures, to verify dimensions and part accuracy.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and driven approach to learning and development.
• Ability to stand for the entirety of the shift on a day schedule (7:00 am – 3:30 pm).
• History of decent job tenure with minimal job hopping, demonstrating reliability and commitment.
• Commitment to following production safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous assembly experience in mechanical, electronic, or electrical environments.
• Experience reading blueprints and interpreting schematics for assembly work.
• Exprerience using construction-related tools such as hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
• Experience with electrical assembly or electrical wiring in a production or shop setting.
• Demonstrated ability and drive to learn how to operate CNC mills and other CNC machinery.
• Interest in developing into a machine operator and eventually progressing to a machinist role.
• Consistent, positive, and driven attitude toward work and skill development.

Work Environment

The role is based in an industrial shop environment with standing work benches and CNC machines running throughout the day. You will work a day shift from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, primarily on your feet, assembling components and handling tools at bench-height stations. The shop emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organized work areas, with regular use of hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, and production equipment in a busy, production-focused setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hillsboro, OR.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
