Join Our Housekeeping Team

Join our Rooms and Housekeeping team and help create clean, comfortable, and welcoming stays for every guest. This hands-on role cleans and prepares guest rooms and public areas, maintains supplies and equipment, reports safety and maintenance concerns, and delivers rooms that meet Canopy Boston Downtown and Hilton time, product, placement, and cleanliness standards. The successful candidate is dependable, attentive to detail, respectful of guest privacy, committed to safety, and comfortable performing active work throughout the shift.

Retrieve supplies from shelves and storerooms; set up cleaning carts with the items needed for the shift; and keep carts, closets, and storerooms clean, organized, secure, and properly stocked.

Clean guest rooms, public areas, and hallways to established time, product, placement, cleanliness, and presentation standards.

Clean and wipe windows, doors, walls, closets, fixtures, vents, ceiling corners, and other surfaces, using ladders or step stools safely when needed to reach elevated areas.

Clean and sanitize shower walls, tubs, toilets and stalls, exposed pipes, mirrors, sinks, bathroom walls, and floors to provide sanitary guest and public restrooms.

Replace towels, soaps, room amenities, and guest supplies; remove and replace soiled or damaged literature; and verify that each room is fully prepared for arriving guests.

Wash hard-surface floors by hand or with approved equipment and vacuum guest rooms, public areas, and hallways, including underneath furniture and in hard-to-reach areas.

Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, wall hangings, and other room features, paying close attention to small debris, dust, and cobwebs.

Strip beds and remake them with fresh linen. Inspect bedspreads, blankets, mattress pads, mattresses, and areas beneath beds, and replace or report items that are soiled, damaged, or missing.

Clean closets, doors, handles, and shelves, and restock hangers, extra blankets, pillows, and other required guest-room supplies.

Inspect door and window locks and immediately report unsecured, damaged, or unsafe conditions to protect guests and team members.

Check televisions, lights, lamps, faucets, radios, and other room equipment for proper operation. Accurately report room status and maintenance deficiencies to the Executive Housekeeper or appropriate department for prompt resolution.

Secure and maintain custody of keys, equipment, supplies, and hotel property at all times, and follow privacy, lost-and-found, key-control, and guest-belongings procedures.

Approach every interaction with guests and colleagues in an attentive, friendly, courteous, inclusive, and service-oriented manner.

Follow applicable federal, state, and local health and safety requirements and all Canopy Boston Downtown, Olshan Properties, and Hilton cleanliness, chemical-handling, security, attendance, grooming, and emergency standards.

Complete assigned room-cleaning documentation, status updates, inspections, and shift tasks accurately and on time.

Support public-area cleaning, linen handling, supply replenishment, deep-cleaning projects, and other Housekeeping or Rooms duties based on operational needs and management direction.

Perform other related duties and supportive functions assigned by the Executive Housekeeper or hotel management.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using an appropriate combination of skills and abilities.

Basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, approved cleaning products, sanitation practices, and the safe operation of standard commercial cleaning equipment.

Ability to operate vacuums, floor buffers, carpet-cleaning equipment, housekeeping carts, ladders, and step stools safely and according to hotel procedures.

Ability to identify small debris, dirt, damage, missing items, and maintenance concerns, including in areas with limited lighting, and to read written instructions, labels, safety information, and computer printouts.

Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and to communicate clearly and respectfully with guests, colleagues, and leaders, verbally and in writing.

Ability to use commercial cleaning chemicals regularly and follow product labels, Safety Data Sheets, required personal protective equipment, dilution instructions, and chemical-storage procedures.

Attention to detail, reliability, time management, respect for guest privacy, and the ability to complete assigned rooms and areas to established standards.

Ability to respond professionally to internal and external customers, including situations requiring patience, tact, diplomacy, accurate information, and appropriate escalation.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor throughout the shift.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

One year or more of housekeeping or professional cleaning experience preferred.

Hotel or hospitality experience is a plus.

Any license, permit, training, or certification required by law, company policy, or the assigned work location must be maintained.

Hospitality is a 24/7 business. This position requires regular and reliable attendance and flexibility to work varied shifts based on business needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as permitted by law.

Essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation:

Stand and walk for eight hours or longer during a shift and move continually throughout guest rooms, corridors, public areas, and service areas.

Frequently stand, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, squat, climb, twist, reach, and move throughout the facility, including reaching and working with the arms above the head for extended periods.

Lift, lower, carry, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift, using assistance or appropriate equipment when needed.

Use finger, hand, arm, and upper-body strength and dexterity to push, pull, grasp, move levers, operate equipment, make beds, and reposition furniture throughout the shift.

Maneuver a fully loaded housekeeping cart weighing up to 50 pounds through hallways and into and out of closets throughout the workday.

Operate and move vacuums weighing up to 25 pounds and safely move furniture as necessary to clean beneath and around it.

Use ladders and step stools safely and work at elevated or hard-to-reach areas when required.

Work regularly with commercial cleaning chemicals and follow all required handling, storage, ventilation, and protective-equipment procedures.

Work in guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors, closets, and public areas that may be confined, warm, humid, noisy, wet, slippery, or subject to changing temperatures.
