REGIONAL DIRECTOR – PRINCIPAL SUPERVISOR
46G (School Support Administrator, 0515) Under direction of the Regional Superintendent, the Regional Director is responsible for the supervision of pre-incipals. The director leads professional development; establishes coaching, feedback, and support system that is aligned with the District’s strategic plan; and utilizes accountability measures to ensure that all schools excel in meeting their goals. The director supports school instruction by helping school leaders to create and reinforce their vision to strengthen connections of practice, classroom teaching, and student work.PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises and coaches principals on a daily basis; trains and supports on the strategies to raise student achievement in schools Assesses the pedagogical details of the school improvement plan in every school, helping principals set key objectives for learning and measurable benchmarks Creates an infrastructure for professional development of principals, administrators, and school staff Provides feedback, support, and suggestions to principals on staffing patterns, student grouping plans, scheduling, and organizational structures are appropriate to desired student outcomes Uses data to drive instructional changes at schools by analyzing and determining next steps based on disaggregated state test scores; school walkthroughs; collections of student work; and interim assessments Supports school administrators and stakeholders as they align budgets with the needs of students to ensure that rigorous instructional programs and effective support services are delivered to all students Assists administrators to create a learning environment that promotes equity and high expectations for academic achievement Ensures alignment of instructional resources and programs with the District’s priorities, strategic plan, and equity initiatives Establishes and maintains systems of communication with parents and the community regarding accountability for results, and ensures that all parent education and involvement activities promote and are aligned with District student achievement goals Directs and evaluates the performance of subordinate personnel Performs other duties as assignedSALARY:
46G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($158,723 – $197,937) – 261 paid days In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment). For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit. Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than three (3) years of which must have been as a school principal At least five (5) years of successful, full-time Pre-K – 12 public school teaching experience An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework* *Applicants have one year to complete this requirement. Leadership experience as a principal demonstrated by a successful track record of improved student achievement Leadership experience in planning, organizing, and implementing professional development that aligns school needs with LAUSD priorities Experience in using the Teaching and Learning Framework as a coaching and professional development tool Administrative experiences working with diverse student populations in a variety of school settings Knowledge of and experience in successfully implementing the California content standards Knowledge of and experience in the use and analysis of assessment data to inform instruction Knowledge of and skills in integrating the use of technology into teaching and learning Knowledge of research-based strategies for implementing the District’s core curriculum Knowledge of strategies and resources to increase graduation and reduce drop-outs rates Knowledge of monitoring, supporting, and evaluating English Learner (EL) Master Plan implementation in order to improve the achievement of English learners and long-term English learners Coaching and facilitation skills to lead principals to plan for learning across grades and content areas Interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with instructional staff, parents, and community members Skills in support of the instructional needs of English learners at all stages of English acquisition; socioeconomically disadvantaged students; special education students; students identified as gifted; students of various languages and cultures to reduce the achievement gap and create a warm and respectful environment for learning Ability to apply theories of student growth and development, group process, communications, and organizational planning job-embedded technologies, differentiated instructional strategies for struggling students; standardized, authentic, observational, and alternative assessments Excellent oral and written communication skillsAPPLICATION PROCEDURE:
