Infrastructure & Platform Engineering Manager

Salary: $115,500 - 218,100 per year Requirements:

• We need a bachelors degree or relevant work experience.
• We require 5 years of hands-on Google Cloud Platform experience.
• A Professional Cloud Architect or Cloud Engineer certification is strongly preferred.
• We need 8 years of IT infrastructure experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or lead engineering role.
• We look for proven experience managing hybrid environments where cloud services and physical hardware operate together.
• We require strong knowledge of server hardware, enterprise storage, and data center physical infrastructure.
• We need experience with Infrastructure as Code tools to automate environment deployment.
• Experience supporting a 24/7 production environment is preferred.
• Strong Kubernetes and Docker expertise, especially in a manufacturing or IIoT setting, is preferred.
• We value a collaborative mindset and the ability to work closely with network and security teams.

• We will rely on you to serve as the primary architect and operator of the computer platforms supporting our Battery Energy Storage System manufacturing facility.
• You will lead the balance between high-performance edge computing on the factory floor and our enterprise Google Cloud Platform environment.
• You will design, deploy, and manage our cloud environments.
• You will monitor and optimize cloud usage to keep costs efficient while maintaining strong performance.
• You will implement and maintain Identity and Access Management policies and cloud security settings.
• You will lead the design and setup of our local plant data center and server rooms, including rack layouts, power planning, and cooling coordination.
• You will implement high-availability edge compute solutions to support real-time manufacturing data and low-latency production needs.
• You will manage the on-site virtualization layer to maximize hardware utilization and resilience.
• You will develop and test backup and disaster recovery strategies across physical infrastructure and cloud workloads.
• You will implement advanced monitoring tools to provide 24/7 visibility into system health.
• You will architect and manage scalable storage solutions for large manufacturing datasets and long-term retention.
• You will lead technical execution of infrastructure projects during construction and go-live phases.
• You will work with vendors to define and procure the physical infrastructure required for the facility.

We are building a new Battery Energy Storage System manufacturing facility and are establishing a wholly owned subsidiary focused on this work. This role will initially be employed by Ford and is expected to transition to the subsidiary within one year. You will report to the Head of IT Infrastructure & Operations and join the engine room of Ford Energy, supporting both local edge computing on the factory floor and our enterprise-scale Google Cloud Platform environment.
