Diesel Technician

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in Kearny, NJ.

Hours: Will train on the 7:00 AM – 3:30PM shift. After training, will transition to the 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM shift.

In this role will make an impact in the following ways:

• Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
• Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
• Maintain own tools

External Qualifications and Competencies

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics
• Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality
• Demonstrates an understanding on access to engine repair process information sources.
• Understands after-treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level.
• Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts.
• Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Education, Licenses, Certifications: Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred) Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution Locally valid driving permit (Preferred) This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience: Minimal level of work shop experience required Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

Completes repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop under supervision

This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.

A current valid license is required for this role. This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations. This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical- 3 years driving experience. This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use. Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age.
