These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world.Team Description:The Brain Interfaces Mechanical Engineering team is responsible for the mechanical and manufacturing systems related to our implant, microfabricated thin-film electrodes, wireless charger, and associated accessories. This includes product design, electronics packaging integration, manufacturing line and facility design, test infrastructure design, and related activities for these core products.Job Description and Responsibilities:As a Manufacturing Engineer at Neuralink, you will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes and hardware from the ground up. This will include maintaining and supporting existing products and processes, troubleshooting failures, implementing updates, and ensuring long-term reliability. You will focus on creating efficient, scalable systems for producing brain interfaces, emphasizing innovation and quality assurance. Note that the ideal candidate is a mechanical engineer who loves to focus on manufacturing. Responsibilities will include:Scoping projects and requirements, large and small, to hit aggressive project schedules and ensure timely completion from inception to implementationDetailed designing of 3D CAD and 2D drawings with a heavy focus on DFX, and integration onto the manufacturing lineRapid prototyping with existing technologies, and developing or sourcing expanded capabilitiesIdentifying key vendors and developing/maintaining relationships to expand our capabilitiesDeveloping, maintaining, and executing test plans and electro-mechanical test systems for verification and validation of products ranging from components to sub-assemblies, full consumer electronics products, or production environmentsIdentifying and tackling manufacturing rate limiters and yield hittersWorking with data acquisition systems and control systems to continually improve in-test and in-process data recording and system useabilityProviding insight into the design of tooling and equipment from development to full-volume production including poka-yoke, controls, and standardization of componentryDeveloping requirements for, sourcing, and pitching major equipment purchases to expand manufacturing and test capabilities; becoming the subject matter expert for this equipment and training other engineers and techniciansDeveloping knowledge of and implementing compliance with relevant federal regulations (e.g., GxP, 21 CFR) as they pertain to medical device design and manufacturingWriting and maintaining design and manufacturing documentation for internal reference and submission to regulatory bodiesRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience and ability3+ years of mechanical engineering industry experienceStrong grasp of engineering's first principlesExperience with DFX, conventional machining, rapid prototyping technologies, and precision design + manufacturingProficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)Preferred Qualifications:Experience in the design and manufacturing of implantable electromechanical medical devicesKnowledge of ISO 13485, ISO 10993, 21 CFR, and related standardsExperience scaling complex low to mid-volume production linesExpected Compensation: The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the following range. Your actual base pay will be determined by your job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. We also believe in aligning our employees' success with the company's long-term growth.
