Title Recruitment Coordinator II Salary The starting salary range for this position will be in the $21.44 - $22.09 range, depending on experience, education, and skills relevant to the position. Please note that the indicated starting salary range describes the range for an incumbent in this position. Most new staff generally start at the beginning of the range percentile to ensure internal salary equity. The Corps programs within the organization engage participants in diverse conservation and community projects that serve public and private lands. These projects provide opportunities for personal and professional development and strive toward a high priority of needs for public land managers and community partners. Through the mission of engaging future leaders who protect, restore and enhance our nation’s lands through community‑based service; Conservation Legacy works toward a world with healthy lands, air and water; thriving people and resilient communities. Program Summary Conservation Corps North Carolina (CCNC) empowers youth and young adults through meaningful outdoor work that benefits North Carolina’s land and water and fosters healthy communities. A program of Conservation Legacy, CCNC partners with public land managers and community organizers across the state to engage motivated individuals – typically ages 15‑30 – in challenging and impactful conservation service projects. These projects may include trail construction and maintenance, habitat restoration, hazard fuel reduction, invasive species removal, and other technical conservation work. CCNC crews and individual placements gain hands‑on experience, professional development, and the opportunity to positively impact North Carolina’s natural resources and communities. CCNC has program offices in both Durham and Old Fort and supports project work statewide with partners including the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, AmeriCorps, NC State Parks, NC Wildlife Resources Commission, local governments, community organizations, and nonprofits. Position Summary The Conservation Corps North Carolina (CCNC) Recruitment Coordinator II will be responsible for all CCNC recruitment implementation: recruiting, interviewing, hiring, selecting CCNC crew corps volunteer participants. Duties will include volunteer support, community outreach, and communications. This position will work to build and expand existing relationships and partnerships to develop recruitment pathways – including attending in‑person outreach events. Travel is required for this position with some overnight trips related to recruitment, content creation, and staff development. Outcomes & Functions of Position Recruitment Receive, review applications, conduct interviews, check references, and select candidates for all crew program positions. Develop and maintain job postings, job descriptions, applications, program flyers, and other recruitment related materials that reflect current recruitment needs. Screen all applicants and identify those who meet the basic requirements for the position. Communicate recruitment needs to all CCNC staff in a timely manner. Provide recruitment support for staff positions as requested. Track recruitment platforms for efficacy, suggest and track improvements. Enhance CCNC visibility in Durham, NC and across the state. Promote CCNC as well as Conservation Legacy’s mission, programs, and achievements. Collaborate with the Conservation Legacy Recruitment Rendezvous group to improve and grow recruitment across programs. Work directly with Recruitment Leadership staff to enhance CCNC’s recruitment process. Volunteer Support Manage volunteer onboarding. Support CCNC volunteers throughout their term of service by ensuring completion of onboarding and first day paperwork needs, and aiding volunteers with professional development resources, training, and post program placement when possible. Manage internal and external databases related to volunteer terms. Ensure prompt enrollment, tracking, and exiting of AmeriCorps participants. Community Outreach Develop and provide clear, concise, and audience appropriate presentations for the public to recruit, inform, and inspire. Identify and attend community events and meetings to increase and expand the local volunteer applicant pool. Develop and maintain relationships with community partners by attending career fairs, community events, and regional meetings to increase recruitment pathways and enhance CCNC’s visibility. Attend in‑person recruitment events. Create flyers and other media/press needs for host sites, program leaders, and others to increase awareness and interest in our programs. Network and develop new contacts and forums for recruitment, enhancing CCNC’s relationships within the state. Communications Work with CCNC staff to create press releases and public notices of crew presence. Collect photos and videos for social media and other external communications. Create social media content for crews. Maintain CCNC’s website job board. Organizational Advocacy Successfully engages, leads and supports a positive work environment for all within the organization and the communities we serve. Leads and/or participates in organizational‑wide teams, projects and initiatives that support the work of the Strategic Plans goals. Reports any potential complaints within the organization as identified in the Personnel Policy Manual. Assists or leads other responsibilities, as assigned. Qualifications Experience: 2+ years with outreach, recruitment, volunteer management, hiring, and/or onboarding. Strong organizational, communication, and relationship‑building skills. Ability to successfully work in a fluid, changing work environment. Ability and comfort with speaking in public to different groups of people including youth, adults, community members, etc. Ability to operate Microsoft Office programs and applications, or similar platforms. Ability to keep others, and oneself, in remote locations accountable to expectations. Valid Driver’s License and Insurable Driving Record per Personnel Policies. Must be able to pass the organization’s criminal history check requirements. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in human resources, communications, environmental studies, education, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant professional experience. Previous experience with a conservation or other national service organization. Professional experience with social media content creation.
