Mechanical Assembler – Sheet Metal / Sink AssemblyThis role focuses on assembling sheet metal sinks using both air power tools and hand tools in a clean, large-scale manufacturing facility. You will select the correct components, interpret technical drawings and blueprints, and ensure each assembly meets strict safety and quality standards. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently on an assembly line both independently and as part of a collaborative production team.ResponsibilitiesAssemble sheet metal sinks and related components according to technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.Select and prepare the correct components for specific assembly processes and procedures.Use air power tools and hand tools to perform precise mechanical assembly tasks on the production line.Adjust and fit components to ensure proper alignment, fit, and function of the final assembly.Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to understand assembly requirements and specifications.Troubleshoot and resolve assembly issues to maintain production efficiency and product quality.Maintain, calibrate, and care for tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve and optimize assembly procedures and workflows.Follow all safety protocols and quality standards throughout the assembly process in a manufacturing environment.Measure and verify components using tape measures and other basic measuring tools to ensure accuracy.Work effectively on an assembly line with other sheet metal craftspeople and production staff to meet daily output targets.Document and communicate any issues with materials, tools, or processes to supervisors or engineering teams as needed.Essential Skills2–5 years of sheet metal manufacturing assembly experience.Proficiency in mechanical assembly within a production or manufacturing environment.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.Experience working with sheet metal manufacturing processes.Skill in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.Ability to work on an assembly line, including repetitive tasks with consistent quality.Competence in using tape measures and basic measuring tools for accurate assembly.Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in a manufacturing environment.Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting quality standards.Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic assembly issues.Capability to collaborate with engineering and production teams.Reliability in following standardized procedures and work instructions.Additional Skills & QualificationsTechnical certification in a related mechanical or manufacturing field is a plus.Experience assembling sinks or similar sheet metal products is an advantage.Familiarity with sheet metal workers' craft and practices.Comfort working with both hand and air power tools over extended periods.Ability to maintain and calibrate tools and equipment.Strong communication skills for coordinating with production and engineering teams.Willingness to work occasional weekend hours when needed.Adaptability to a growing team environment as headcount increases.Why Work Here?You will join a unionized workplace that offers structured support, stability, and strong long-term benefits. You will work on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., typically 40–45 hours per week, with some weekend work when needed to meet production demands. The production floor has approximately 100 people, and the team is expanding, creating a dynamic environment with opportunities to collaborate and grow with a larger group of sheet metal craftspeople. You will work extensively with hand tools, air power tools, and standard measuring tools such as tape measures in a sheet metal manufacturing and assembly line setting. The dress code allows jeans and a T-shirt, with required safety gear including safety glasses and steel-toe boots to ensure a safe working environment.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Broadview, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.94 - $20.94/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
