Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a float pool position requiring KS or compact RN licensure and floating across multiple ER locations within a designated zone.

Details

• Acute care Emergency Room float pool position covering multiple ER locations within Zone 4 (Garden City, KS area)
• No home base facility; float assignments communicated before each schedule with the first float assignment confirmed on or before the Monday start date
• Patient volume ranges from 6-49 patients per day depending on location
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
• Uses Epic EMR
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• No monitor techs on the unit; RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• RNs are trained to perform Point of Care lab testing
• Charge nurse is present and takes patient assignments
• Techs support unit secretary duties, assist nurses on the floor, and assist with triage
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No call or standby requirements
• 2-3 days of unit/department-specific orientation
• Navy blue scrub color required

Requirements

• Active KS or Compact RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), ENPC or PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
• BSN not required for this position
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Travelers are expected to float throughout all ER locations within Zone 4, a 60-mile radius from Garden City, KS
• Candidates are responsible for securing housing that accommodates floating throughout the entire zone regardless of preferred location
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the zone's city center to be eligible for this position
• Candidates should plan to be in-state for orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility associated with this health system within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
