Purchasing Specialist

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for supporting organizational operations through purchasing, asset management, mail services, vendor coordination, inventory control, and records administration. They oversee the timely procurement of goods and services, accurate tracking of assets and records, efficient mail and package processing, and operational support for departments and corporate initiatives.

A Day in the Life of a Purchasing Specialist Includes

• Prepare and process purchase orders using established purchasing policies and procedures.
• Tag, track, inventory, and maintain records for organizational assets.
• Support asset audits, documentation reviews, mergers, and inventory projects.
• Process, distribute, and track incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
• Maintain member records by processing returned mail, updating address information, and communicating with members as needed.
• Abide by company policies and regulations, including ensuring approved budget for supply and equipment purchases is followed.

Purchasing Specialist Skills and Qualifications Include

• 2 years of experience in administrative support functions to include purchasing, inventory and asset control, records administration, and mail distribution.
• Experience in a financial institution is preferred.
• High school education or GED.
• Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and member service skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel

• Work Schedule
  • Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, with some flexibility.
• Travel
  • Travel is rarely necessary for this position.

  • All work will be performed at our beautiful Corporate Campus located at 2675 O'Neal Lane Baton Rouge, LA 70816
