Senior Social Strategist

Job Description We're looking for a Senior Strategist, Social Marketing & Strategy to join our team. You'll report to the Director, Social Marketing & Strategy and will push social creative strategy for our high-profile Retail (grocery) client. Only candidates in the New York City or Chicago area will be considered as some in‑office time is to be expected. Responsibilities You’re a collaborator who combines creative content ideas with smart social media strategies to achieve our goals. You’ll manage and mentor team members, providing strategic guidance, fostering growth and leading internal and client meetings with confidence. You’ll translate client business challenges into social‑first strategies that drive engagement, brand growth and business results. You’ll deliver ongoing thought leadership to our teams and clients by identifying problems and finding solutions. You know how to analyze performance across social channels, uncover actionable insights, and optimize creative, content and media strategies to drive measurable business impact. You understand how owned, earned and paid social work together and can develop integrated social strategies that maximize the role of each. You’ll deliver briefs full of insights, inspiration and updates based on creative feedback and help translate that work into social creative. You know how to find the insight and when to implement it. You understand our client’s industry and category, and have a POV after auditing industry examples and trends, such as memes, formats, cultural insights, and new social platforms. You’ll partner with the creative team to push creativity and make sure it aligns with the strategy. You’ll build knowledge on the macro/micro forces that influence our client’s business. You’re excited to wear multiple hats, including everything from client interaction to planning and calendars, to writing briefs, to helping create content. Qualifications 6+ years of experience developing social strategies across owned, earned and paid social, including experience at an advertising agency. Experience using social listening, analytics, and platform insights to measure performance and optimize creative and content strategies. Experience presenting strategic recommendations and performance insights to senior clients. Bachelor’s in Advertising, Marketing or related field, required; in lieu of degree, equivalent experience in a relevant field required. Expertise in and love for the social space. Excited by the internet, love that it’s ever‑changing, and understand how to apply this to clients. Experience as the daily lead on client businesses and developing client relationships. Experience managing and mentoring junior team members. Work Arrangement At dentsu, we believe great work happens when we’re connected. Employees who live within a commutable distance of one of our hub offices, currently located in Chicago, metro Detroit, Los Angeles, and New York City, are required and expected to work from the office three days per week (two days per week for employees based in Los Angeles). Dentsu may designate other Hub offices at any time. Those who live outside a commutable range may be designated as remote, depending on the role and business needs.
