Senior Accountant - Sales Tax & Accounting

Columbus, MT | Full-Time

Montana Silversmiths is seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to manage multi-state sales tax compliance, support month-end close activities, and assist with financial reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, advanced Excel knowledge, and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage multi-state sales tax filings, registrations, audits, and compliance.
• Reconcile ERP transactions with sales tax software and prepare related journal entries.
• Support month-end close and general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with annual IRS 1099 reporting.
• Communicate with customers and internal teams regarding sales tax matters.
• Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2-5 years of accounting experience, including sales tax compliance preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros, large datasets).
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Dynamics AX, Power BI, SureTax, Magento, or similar systems is a plus.
