School Nurse

Provide direct health services to individual students and staff.

Qualifications, Certification, and Experience

• Current license as a registered nurse (RN) from the Iowa Board of Nursing
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
• Knowledge of professional standards, the Nurse Practice Act and other statutes and regulations
• Current CPR/AED certification
• Completed studies designed to develop knowledge and skills in the following areas:
• Health concerns of school youth
• Physical and emotional health of children and adults
• Community agencies/resources
• Legal rights and due process
• Ability to manage the components of the School Health Program

Professional Performance Criteria

• Manages School Health services
• Implements the Nursing Process and Standards of School Nursing Practice (NASN 2005)
• Maintains accurate health records on all students
• Promotes optimal environmental health

Terms of Employment: Substitutes are called and serve on an "as needed basis" with no guarantee of hours or days.
