Details Work in the Medical/Surgical unit (4W) of a Level 3 Trauma teaching-affiliated hospital 32-bed unit with an average daily census of 32 patients Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios up to 1:7-8 CNA to patient ratio of 1:10 12-hour night shifts from 1900-0700, 36 hours per week Schedule follows a 6-week cycle with every-other-weekend rotation Floating required within Region 3, including Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) as needed within scope of practice Possibility of low census call-back, up to 3am for night shifts Uses Epic EMR Unit equipped with virtual nursing technology (10 cameras) to assist with med witnessing, patient monitoring, and admission/discharge tasks Requirements Active RN license (NC or Compact) required BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone) Experience with wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management required Epic EMR experience required Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position there Additional Information Provide comprehensive Med/Surg Tele nursing care including cardiac monitoring, wound care, and line/drain management Support staff includes CNAs for ADLs and mobility, charge nurse (may or may not carry patient assignment), phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage Telemetry monitoring techs available on the unit Facility is a Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation Travelers required to work 75% of holidays Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract Navy scrub color required Free parking available Unit culture described as collaborative, patient-centered, and fun-loving Traveler's permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the home unit First-time travelers are welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID P-729386.
