Field Service Technician

Key Responsibilities Diagnostics and Repairs: Perform complex on‑site diagnostics and repairs on Wirtgen and John Deere construction equipment. Workplace Safety: Perform tasks in accordance with all company safety policies and procedures. Training and Development: Participate in required Service Training programs. Knowledge Maintenance: Stay updated on Wirtgen, John Deere and competitive products. Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain the condition of the mobile service vehicle, trailer, inventory, tools and equipment. Required Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience: 5+ years of experience performing service repairs. Technical Expertise: Experience with repairs and maintenance using special tools and Technical Manual procedures, particularly on specialized machines. Experience operating vehicles, tools and equipment for diagnostics. Industry Knowledge: Expert knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of Wirtgen or construction equipment. Mechanical Background: Ability to perform complex repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following technical manual procedures. Familiarity with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems in off‑road, construction or heavy equipment. Computer Proficiency: Basic computer skills; experience with Service ADVISOR or similar diagnostic tools preferred. Soft Skills: Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills. Team Collaboration: Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. Toolset: Possession of toolset in alignment with the company’s requirements of the role. Tool checklist will be completed in the interview process. Preferred Qualifications Technical Degree or Certificates: Advanced or Master Service Technician certifications and degree in Diesel Repairs, Heavy Equipment Technology or related field. Industry Knowledge: Previous experience working on the John Deere line and competitive products. Physical Requirements Driving: Must be able to drive and travel in a vehicle. Must pass a pre‑employment drug screening. Physical Conditions: Must be able to lift 50 pounds. This position is classified as a Type 2 driver, defined as an employee who does not possess a CDL Class A or B license but operates a vehicle with a GVWR exceeding 10,000 pounds. Type 2 drivers are required to hold and maintain a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate in compliance with FMCSA regulations, including periodic medical recertification and adherence to FMCSA compliance reviews.
