Manager, Revenue Operations

The Manager, Revenue Operations, is primarily responsible for overseeing the operational and financial management of a portfolio of music publishing assets and their related revenue streams. The position includes cash collection and tracking, financial planning & reporting, as well as ongoing analytics and revenue optimization across the publishing catalog. The role sits within the finance department with frequent interaction with Business affairs team. - The ideal candidate has strong experience in finance and is well versed in music publishing royalties (including performing rights income). In addition, the candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented and possesses the ability to identify opportunities and execute optimizations within the revenue streams. - Revenue Operations & Collection Management Assist with onboarding newly acquired music publishing catalogs, ensuring accurate setup of revenue sources, rights, and reporting. Manage cash tracking process to include the review of cash collections and royalty statements to confirm revenues are properly matched to the correct entity, artist, payor, and earnings period. Monitor expected royalty receipts and proactively follow up with labels, collection societies, publishers, and other payors when statements or payments are delayed. Revenue Assurance, Financial Analysis & Forecasting Perform variance analyses comparing actual cash receipts to forecasted revenues and identify key drivers of differences. Analyze catalog performance trends, including revenue growth, new releases, contractual royalty rate changes, catalog activity, and other performance metrics. Perform comparative revenue analytics to include the various revenue types, as well as publishing income to PRO income, publishing versus sound recording revenue streams, etc. Identify, quantify, and document one-time revenue anomalies, contractual rate adjustments, rights reversions, and other non-recurring items affecting financial results. Develop revenue forecasts by revenue type, artist, and accounting period using historical performance, contractual information, release schedules, and market trends. Prepare executive-level commentary supporting budgets, forecasts, and monthly or quarterly variance analyses. Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial analyses and management reports to support executive decision-making. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and internal controls, including AI or other IT implementations. - Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Music Business, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in music publishing finance, royalty accounting, revenue operations, financial planning and analysis, or a related field. Strong understanding of music publishing revenue streams, royalty reporting, licensing, and royalty statement processing. Experience working with financial reporting systems, royalty accounting platforms, and large datasets. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial databases, SQL, Power BI, or similar analytical tools is preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to executives and cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with music publishing acquisitions and catalog integrations. Knowledge of music publishing agreements, royalty calculations, and valuation methodologies. Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning. Familiarity with ERP systems and music industry royalty platforms. Location & Work Schedule This position is in office in Los Angeles, CA. Employees are expected to work onsite Monday through Thursday, with remote work on Fridays at the manager’s discretion. - Additional Information Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are not available for this position.
