Our hospital offers advanced specialty services including Behavior, Emergency and Critical Care/ ICU, Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Surgery/Orthopedics. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, serving Miami-Dade County and the surrounding South Florida community. TPHS Miami is looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency/ICU TEAM! About You The success of your patients’ care matters to you, and your success matters to us. Your Experience & Skills Veterinary Technician licensure (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferred, NOT required ! Experienced Veterinary Assistants encouraged to apply! 1-2 years of clinical experience in a specialty service is required Surgery and anesthesia experience highly preferred A degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Role Responsibilities Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients Assist the Emergency and ICU teams to maximize productivity and maintain efficient patient flow Perform patient assessments, triage, IV catheter placement, blood collection, and treatment preparation Monitor hospitalized and critically ill patients, recognizing and communicating changes in patient status Administer medications, fluids, blood products, and treatments as directed by veterinarians and within Florida Veterinary Practice Act guidelines Operate and monitor medical equipment including infusion pumps, oxygen therapy devices, ECG monitors, and other critical care equipment Assist with emergency procedures, CPR, and stabilization efforts Communicate with clients regarding treatment plans, patient updates, medications, and Thrive Membership options Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records utilizing hospital practice management systems Obtain relevant patient histories and client information Use safe restraint techniques and uphold hospital safety protocols Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary treatment and ICU areas Mentor and support fellow team members while contributing to a positive hospital culture You’ll Grow With Us Here, you can grow your career as best fits you through access to comprehensive learning and skillset programs.
