United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring a Director, Family Engagement and Health to join our team. As a Director, Family Engagement and Health , you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality implementation of the Head Start Program Performance Standards, organizational policies, and program goals related to Family Engagement and Health. The Director leads the development of systems, monitors program performance, utilizes data to drive continuous quality improvement, and ensures coordinated, integrated services that promote positive outcomes for children and families. Working collaboratively with the Vice President of the Center for Excellence, this position provides strategic direction, strengthens staff capacity, oversees contracted services, and ensures readiness for federal monitoring.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Management:
- Provide strategic leadership for Family Engagement, Health, Nutrition, Mental Health, Oral Health, and Community Partnership services.
- Develop, implement, and monitor annual work plans, program goals, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, licensing regulations, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies.
- Analyze program data and monitor results to identify trends, recommend improvements, and monitor outcomes.
- Work with the Director of Education/Intervention in leading the Self-Assessment and federal reviews.
- Work with the Director of Education/Intervention on the annual program report.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for the Policy Council and CFE Committee.
People & Engagement:
- Directly supervise Family Engagement Supervisors, Health Specialists, Senior Administrator and Data Entry Administrator.
- Conduct reflective supervision, performance evaluations, and professional development planning.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and staff retention.
Leadership:
- Provide leadership for implementation of the Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) Framework.
- Oversee ERSEA collaboration, family partnership processes, parent leadership initiatives, and community partnerships.
- Ensure effective implementation of health, nutrition, oral health, and safety requirements.
- Lead the Mental Health/Health Advisory Committee.
- Coordinate reflective supervision meetings (group and individual).
- Foster collaboration across service areas and model a culture of accountability, respect, and continuous improvement.
- Exercise sound professional judgment and elevate significant compliance or operational issues to the Vice President of the Center for Excellence.
Health, Safety, and Licensing:
- Oversee monitoring of health, safety, and compliance across all partner sites.
- Monitor child health requirements including immunizations, screenings, follow-up treatment, and health outcomes.
- Provide oversight of contracted nutrition services, including contract implementation, invoice review, and performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with consultants and community providers to ensure comprehensive services.
Data and Continuous Quality Improvement:
- Ensure accurate ChildPlus data and utilization of program performance information.
- Monitor key indicators including attendance, family outcomes, health compliance, screenings, and program goals.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives based on data and monitoring findings.
- In collaboration with the Director of Education/Intervention, review the PIR and ensure all program data is correct.
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Public Health, or Health Services Administration. Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, or Health Services Administration preferred.
Experience Requirements: Three or more years of experience in Head Start or Early Head Start programs, including supervisory experience overseeing professional staff.
Requirements: Regular access to a reliable vehicle; vehicle insurance which would include periodic transportation of program participants. Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and/or weekends. Ability to pass a health examination and criminal background check. Ability to work effectively with minimal daily guidance. Knowledge of community resources. Successful experience working in a team setting. Ability to present a positive image of the organization to members of the community. Visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if needed. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and other office equipment, including, but not limited to, the telephone, fax machine, copier, and tape recorder. Must be able to travel, enter and exit a vehicle without assistance.
Technology Requirements: Must have good computer skills; knowledge of Word, Excel, and modern web browsers.
Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: Must have a “big picture” approach to problem solving, system development, and decision-making; ability to work independently; analytical and problem-solving skills; must understand Head Start Performance Standards requirements; must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; must have excellent organizational skills and proven ability to work within prescribed timelines.
Contacts: Works in collaboration with all departments in United Way of Miami-Dade; communicates effectively and functions well with parents, staff, and various professional community groups; develops positive relationships with Child Care Partners staff and Family Child Care providers. Effectively serves and communicates with children and families who are dual language learners.
Direct Supervision of Others : Family Engagement Supervisors, Health Specialists, Senior Administrator, Data Entry Administrator, and other staff as assigned.
