Join the team and create the future of customer experience together.Genesys is seeking an experienced and versatile Privacy Counsel to support key privacy compliance, commercial transactions, and product counseling activities focused primarily on our United States business operations. This role will advise on evolving US privacy laws, customer-facing privacy commitments, and responsible data governance practices within a global cloud computing and AI First environment. You will work closely with several cross-functional teams (including Product Development, Engineering, Commercial and Compliance teams) to provide practical and timely guidance that supports innovation, while at the same time, maintaining a strong compliance culture.At Genesys, we are redefining customer experience through empathy, innovation, and responsible AI. This role offers the opportunity to help shape privacy and AI governance in a collaborative global organization committed to ethical technology and customer trust.Reporting Line: Chief Privacy OfficerLevel: Experienced Mid-Level CounselKey ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities for this key role are broad and will have a high impact to the business, including:Commercial Privacy and Customer ContractingDraft, review, and negotiate Data Processing Agreements, privacy addenda, and customer-facing privacy terms within cloud and SaaS agreements (including ad-hoc AI terms)Advise commercial teams on privacy obligations relating to customer contracts, procurement engagements, and strategic partnership transactionsSupport customer privacy reviews, due diligence requests, RFIs, and RFP responsesProvide practical guidance regarding cross-border data transfers and vendor privacy obligationsDevelop and maintain contracting templates, negotiation guidance, and privacy playbooksUS Privacy Compliance and Product CounselingAdvise on US privacy laws and regulations, including state privacy frameworks, including the CCPA/CPRA and other emerging state privacy requirementsSupport implementation of privacy compliance processes, including privacy impact assessments, data mapping, retention practices, and consumer rights handlingPartner with Product and Engineering teams to support Privacy by Design and responsible data governance practicesContribute to AI governance initiatives and advise on emerging AI-related legal and regulatory requirementsAssist with privacy and security incident assessments and support internal investigations and remediation activities in partnership with internal stakeholdersCross-Functional CollaborationTranslate legal and regulatory concepts into practical, business-friendly guidanceSupport training and awareness initiatives related to privacy, AI governance, and data protection obligationsCollaborate with Security, Compliance, Product, Business Transformation, Engineering, Procurement, and Commercial stakeholders to align on risk management and compliance prioritiesContribute to a culture that embraces empathy, collaboration, and innovation with privacy awarenessRequired QualificationsJuris Doctor degree and active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdictionApproximately 3 to 6 years of relevant privacy, technology, or commercial legal experienceExperience drafting and negotiating privacy and technology agreements in cloud or SaaS environmentsWorking knowledge of United States privacy laws and practical privacy compliance operationsFamiliarity with GDPR concepts and global privacy notions in multinational business environmentsStrong communication skills and ability to work effectively across legal and business teamsStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlinesPreferred QualificationsIAPP certification such as CIPP/US, CIPM, or CIPT would be a plusExperience supporting AI governance or AI-related product counselingFamiliarity with cloud infrastructure, data flows, and cybersecurity conceptsExperience working in enterprise SaaS or global technology companiesKnowledge of healthcare, financial services, or other regulated industries (FedRAMP is a plus)Core CompetenciesPragmatic and solutions-oriented legal mindsetStrong stakeholder management and collaboration skillsExcellent written and verbal communicationAbility to balance legal risk with commercial objectivesComfortable operating in a dynamic and rapidly evolving technology environmentCompensation:This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
